Aventis School of Management is an Academic Participant of the United Nations Global Compact (UN-GC). UN Global Compact is the largest corporate social initiative in the world through collaboration amongst over 3,800 participating members across over 120 countries. Through the power of collective action, the Global Compact seeks to mainstream these ten principles in business activities around the world and to promote corporate responsibility and sustainability in business education in order to create a global economy embedded in universally shared values in the areas of human rights, labour, corporate social responsibilities, environment and anti-corruption.
The UN Global Compact was announced by Kofi Annan at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 1999, and formally launched in July 2000. Mr Annan said "Let us choose to unite the power of markets with the authority of universal ideals. Let us choose to reconcile the creative forces of private entrepreneurship with the needs of the disadvantaged and the requirements of future generations."
Aventis School of Management has joined leading universities and research institutions around the world, international business associations, labour organisations and international human rights, environment and development organizations in participating in the UN Global Compact. Institutions participating in the initiative make a commitment to align their mission and strategy, as well as their core competencies – education, research and thought leadership . Actions encouraged under the initiative’s framework include curriculum development around the corporate responsibility agenda and research in support of sustainable management systems, as well as public advocacy and opinion leadership to advance responsible business practices.
THE TEN PRINCIPLES
