WHAT IS INDUSTRIAL & ORGANIZATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY

Industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology is the scientific study of the workplace. Rigor and methods of psychology are applied to issues of critical relevance to business, including talent management, coaching, assessment, selection, training, organizational development, performance, and work-life balance.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Increasingly, people factors are recognized as a major determinant of organizational performance and a key competitive differential. I/O psychologists focus on enhancing organizational development and culture, improving productivity while ensuring physically and psychologically well being of the workers.
The executive Master of Science in Psychology (Industrial & Organizational) focuses on the scientific study of individual and group behaviour in institutional settings, applications to related problems of organization and industry, and prepare individuals to apply such principles in industrial and organizational settings which include personnel psychology, motivation, leadership, employee selection, training and development, organization development and guided change, organizational behavior, and work and family issues.

INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION

The program is closely aligned with industry practice and is recognized internationally by international Professional bodies including the Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology (SIOP), Division 14 of the Americian Psychological Association (APA) and the Centre for Behavioral Science (CBS), an international professional association devoted to behavioural sciences and research.

PARTICIPANTS

I/O psychologists often work in an HR department, though other I/O psychologists pursue careers as independent consultants or applied academic researchers. I/O psychology is one of the many domains that should be assessed when conducting psychological research when answering applied questions.

  • As scientists, they derive principles of individual, group, and organizational behavior through research.

Five advanced courses from the list below will be selected by the Department of Psychology, Weisman School of Arts and Sciences in consultation with International Executive Programs, Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College.

PROGRAM DELIVERY

Each course will be supported with 38 contact hours of face to face lectures by internationally renowned professors flown in from New York. The classes for each course are usually conducted in this manner over a 9-day period

ADMISSION CRITIERA

Recent intake into the EMSF program includes participants from over 5 countries across ASEAN region, reflecting significant growth of the program across ASEAN. There are 2 admission period into the program annually: March and September. Please contact the program consultant for more information.

  • A recognized undergraduate degree with minimum 3 years of work experience OR.
  • A good diploma from a recognized institution plus minimum of 5 years management experience
  • Mature candidates who have demonstrated exceptional professional or business achievements but who do not meet the above requirements may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Terms and Conditions : All notice of withdrawal must be in writing. A full refund of the course fees paid will be made if notice of withdrawal is received more than 60 days before course commencement. If notice of withdrawal is received between 60 to 30 days before course commencement, 75% of course fees paid will be refunded. No refund will be made after the course has commenced. Course Fee paid will not be refunded in the event of deferment regardless of whether the request made is prior to commencement or after the commencement of the course.
