The presence of these leading institutions has contributed to the vibrancy and sophistication of Singapore’s financial industry. These institutions carry out a vastly more complex range of activities, and the skills and capabilities they demand continue to evolve. The rapid expansion of the finance industry has also lead to a huge demand for qualified finance professionals. For non-financial professionals keen to explore a mid-career switch, it is essential for them to be equipped with a good understanding of the key financial concepts and applications.

The program incorporates the core body of knowledge to prepare candidates for CFA Level 1 examination. Administered by CFA Institute, the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) Program is a graduate-level, self-study curriculum and examination program for investment specialists.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

The aim of the course is to provide an academic qualification of sufficient depth to equip students with the skills to embark on a successful career in the financial services sector. This program is suitable for candidates from a wide diversity of professional fields and backgrounds who require greater competency in their financial skills and methodologies.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will gain a firm understanding of the key financial concepts, and will be able to construct, evaluate, and communicate information about financial products and services available in the industry.

PARTICIPANTS

The graduate diploma in Finance & Investment is designed to meet the needs of both finance and non-finance professionals seeking to advance their careers and employability in the international financial sector. The program equips candidates with critical skills and knowledge required for them to excel in the highly complex financial sector. Taught by industry professionals, this program will provide candidates with a solid foundation of the key practices and trends in the global financial markets.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

This program will serve candidates, such as bankers, relationship managers, stockbrokers, investment managers, and financial advisors, who are seeking a career in financial services firms. Graduates should also be able to evaluate the significance of financial, economic, taxation, and regulatory constraints.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

This is a 6 months part-time program comprising of 4 modules.  The program curriculum incorporates the Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) of the CFA program and prepares students for level 1 of the CFA examination. The 4 modules are as follow:

• Investment Analysis and Financial Management
• Business Statistics for Finance
• The New Global Financial Market
• Financial Risk Management & Control

Tailored for working professionals and classes are conducted on weekdays evening from 7.00pm to 10.00pm or over weekends. Each module is supported with 24 contact hours of face to face lectures which are conducted by our experienced faculty.

ASSESSMENT MODE

Students will be assessed using a combination of examinations and assessments which could include quizzes, group discussions, case studies, presentations and examination. The Graduate Diploma in Finance & Investment program is awarded by Aventis School of Management. Successful graduates will be allowed to use the designatory letters “Graduate Diploma in Investment & Risk Management” after their name upon completion of the program.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

All applicants must possess:

• A degree or similar professional qualifications from a recognized university/institution, OR
• A diploma from a polytechnic with at least 3 years of working experience.
• Senior executives with extensive experience but without academic qualification may be considered on a case to case basis.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

• Participants may enrol and attend any of the modules for the acquisition of knowledge in a particular discipline. An executive certificate will be awarded for students that have fulfilled at least 80% attendance for that enrolled module.
• For participants that have enrolled and attended any of the modules for the acquisition of knowledge in a particular discipline, they will be issued with an executive certificate if they fulfil at least 80% attendance.
