POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION – AT A GLANCE

OVERVIEW

The Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration is tailored to equip students with the general management skills which are important for decision making and organizational development. It serves as an excellent platform for students to build their knowledge on the essential aspect of management.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the end of the program, graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to:

  • Design, incorporate and implement key concepts of business management into their business
  • Understand issues and developments in the current business environment;
  • Review and recommend innovative initiatives to overcome business challenges
  • Contribute more effectively to the strategic planning and management in your organization

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

This program comprises of 4 modules which can be completed in 6 months (part time). Classes for two of the subjects (Organisation Theory and Behaviour & Financial Accounting for Managers) are conducted on weekday evenings from 7pm to 10pm, supported with face to face lectures and tutorials. The other two subjects (Marketing Management & E-Business) are conducted through the facilitation of a dynamic online learning environment (powered by U21Global) that stimulates interaction with other course participants, fostering co-operation and the spontaneous sharing of ideas and experiences.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Whatever stage you’re at in your career, you can explore to undertake single modules as part of their Professional Development program. Participants may enrol and attend any of the modules for the acquisition of knowledge in a particular discipline. A Certificate of Participation (COP) will be awarded for students that have fulfilled at least 80% attendance for that enrolled module.

Upon completion of the single module, successful participant will receive a certificate of achievement. The cost for professional development module is S$1,700 excluding GST.

ASSESSMENT MODE

Students will be assessed using a combination of examinations and assessments which could include quizzes, group discussions, case studies, presentations and examination.

AWARDS & ACCREDITATION

The Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration is awarded by Aventis School of Management. Students who have completed shall be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration and be allowed to use the designatory letters "PGDip BA" after their name.





ADMISSIONS CRITERIA

An ideal candidate should possess:

  • A degree or similar professional qualifications from a recognized university/institution, OR
  • A diploma from with at least 3 – 5 years of working experience
  • Senior executives with extensive experience but without academic qualifications maybe considered on a case to case basis.

PROGRAM FEES

The total investment for this program is S$6,800 (subject to prevailing GST rates) payable in 2 instalment of S$3,400. There is a non-refundable application processing fee of S$100.00 (subject to prevailing GST rates) is chargeable upon application and submission of documents. The course fees cover course materials, tuition but DOES NOT include textbooks and other miscellaneous charges, if any.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Interested applicants are required to submit the following:

  • Duly-completed application form
  • Certified true copies of all education certificates and transcripts
  • Application processing fee of S$107 (inclusive of 7% GST)

WITHDRAWAL AND DEFERMENT

All notice of withdrawal must be in writing. A full refund of the course fees paid will be made if notice of withdrawal is received more than 60 days before course commencement. If notice of withdrawal is received between 60 to 30 days before course commencement, 75% of course fees paid will be refunded.

No refund will be made after the course has commenced. Course Fee paid will not be refunded in the event of deferment regardless of whether the request made is prior to commencement or after the commencement of the course.

COURSE CURRICULUM

Developed and delivered by renowned academia and industry practitioners, the program is both academically rigorous and closely aligned with industry practice and framework.

Organizational Theory & Behavior

This module will equip you with a good understanding of the behavioral science theories and applications behind management. Organizational behavior is an interdisciplinary field drawing from numerous disciplines including psychology, sociology, organizational theory, statistics and many others. It will also cover the effectiveness of "soft" management interventions such as work motivation, work attitudes, socialization, work teams, leadership and organizational culture have on your organization.

Marketing Management

Marketing Management provides the framework to understand and analyze the market environment, consumers and competitors to facilitate decision making. Key concepts, principles and activities involved in marketing programs are introduced. Students are familiarised with the stages of analysis, development, implementation and control of marketing products and services in consumer and industrial markets. Topics include product life cycles, consumer and competitive behaviour, international marketing, branding and communication strategies, and development of a marketing business plan. Internet marketing and communication strategies on the World Wide Web are examined.

Financial Accounting for Managers

This module provides students with an understanding of the concepts and language of accounting, to be used as an effective tool for communication, monitoring and resource allocation. Standard techniques of analysis are covered, including ratio and financial statement analysis and financial statement articulation. Students are provided a framework for understanding financial statements, accounting reports and parent-subsidiary relationships.

E-Business

E-Business presents the key concepts of e-Business, focusing particularly on business issues, challenges and opportunities. The module explores the implementation of information technology-enabled business strategies via Internet-based business practices. The focus is not on the technologies per se but on the business applications and characteristics of the technologies that can bring enhanced revenues, cost savings and broader market reach to organisations. This subject examines how eBusiness can be used to provide opportunities to improve an organisation's effectiveness and competitiveness in its overall strategy and functional activities through communication, coordination and transactions over the Internet and associated technologies.
